Xiaomi, the Chinese giant mainly famous for
producing high-end smartphones for budget prices has finally arrived in
India for the first time. The company has given high competition to the
Indian Smartphones Company with the launch of Xiaomi Mi 3. This flagship
handset features high-end hardware components rivaling the Google Nexus 5,
but in terms of price it’s almost the half. It is the awesome
smartphone which you can go for in terms of value of money? Let’s have a
look to the Xiaomi Mi 3 review:

IN THE BOX:

Xiaomi Mi 3 comes in a very coll and attractive box that includes a
USB Cable and a Charger Head along with a smartphone. There is no
earphones present in the box as you have to buy separately as the
company will sold these accessories separately.

Design & Structure

Xiaomi Mi 3 gives you a premium feeling when you hold the smartphone on your palm. The handset is made-up of an aluminum-magnesium alloy frame which is further coated with 3 layers of thermal graphite enclosed with a back panel is made up of good quality plastic and features full HD display.
And if we talk about the back of the device than the back of the
smartphone has given a metal finish which has been done out in such a
manner which really makes people to think twice that is it actually made
of plastic. In our use, we noticed that the back panel of the
smartphone won’t catch scratches easily.
Xiaomi Mi 3 is just 8.1 mm thick and weights 145 gms, which is
actually not heavy at all. Despite of it’s large size (mainly at the
length part), the handset is very comfortable and easy to carry around.
It just reminded us of the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia N9-00 with it’s rounded edge.

At the right side of the smartphone there is the presence of Volume
and Power keys whereas, the left edge is barren. The bottom part of of
the device is occupied with the speaker grill and MicroUSB port. And at
the top there is 3.5 mm headset jack along with a sim card tray.
The front face of the smartphone features three capacitive keys for
navigation just below the display, and the top is featured with a 2 MP
front-facing camera. The handset doesn’t have rounded corners.
The 13 Mega-Pixels rear camera with dual LED flash is placed at the top left side of the back side of the smartphone.
The phone is just available in single color variant i.e Metallic Grey.
Overall, Xiaomi Mi 3 is a excellent built smartphone with a attractive
design and structure which is durable and convenient to use.

Display

The Xiaomi Mi 3 features a 5-inch 1080p Full HD IPS screen display.
And we are quite impressed with the display’s brightness and color
rendering. The handset offers the users three different modes for color
temperature i.e Warm, Standard & Cool. Also two different modes for saturation: Brilliant & Standard.
The images and the text are sharp and the viewing angles are pretty
good. The company provides you the best Touch experience and the company
also claims that the consumer can also operate the handset even when
they have wet hands. Smartphone also features and option to turn on the Glove Mode in-order to increase the touch sensitivity.

We found that the screen of the smartphone to be very reflective,
resulting in reduced sunlight legibility. The display panel of the
smartphone will come up with  Gorilla Glass Protection, as this thing is
not mentioned on the official specification page of the company.

Software

Xiaomi Mi 3 operates on it’s own MIUI, which is a
very heavily customized version of Android. You won;t be facing any
problems to operate this device, if you are an Android enthusiast
(something like flashing ROM’s on your handsets). However this software
raise the pride of Mi 3, which is it’s advantage point.
The MIUI is based on Android KitKat 4.4, which is totally different.
The best about the MIUI is that it allows the consumers to customize
their interface with various themes, wallpapers and clock. The Theme app
offers a large number of free and paid themes, each of them come uo
with different set of icons, font style, app switcher, lock screens,
sounds, and even system apps.

Camera

Xiaomi Mi 3 sports a 13-Megapixel’s of rear facing camera along with a
Philips Dual-LED flash. According to Xiaomi, it’s Mi 3′s 5-lens
includes an infrared filter that delivers very accurate colors in the
snaps clicked.
The camera app present in the handset also offers the consumers two different  modes for the camera: Simple and Advance and
also provides other settings to adjust contrast, saturation, sharpness
and many more.. It also offers different filter options like HDR, Brust,
Panorama etc. The video mode offers slow and fast video recording
options too.

The smartphone also features a 2 Megapixel’s front-facing camera, and
when we clicked some selfies, the snaps were really impressive one.
The Xiaomi Mi 3 allows to record the video in 1080p, 720p and 480p
resolutions and also includes image stabilizer anti-shake feature too.
Due to the presence of three microphones, it helps to record a very good
quality audio also.
Overall, Xiaomi Mi 3 offers the best ever photography experience
under Rs. 15,000. But do remember you cannot compare the image quality
with the handsets like Samsung Galaxy S5 or Sony Xperia z2.

Performance

Xiaomi Mi 3 is powered with a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 800 Processor along with 2GB of RAM. The smartphone is very responsive with it’s MIUI software which is especially optimized for the hardware’s.
In our use, we didn’t notice any bugs while navigating through the
home screens and menus, opening apps, switching between them. And the
phone was able to play the full HD videos without any problems.
The handset offers 16GB of Internal Storage space, out of which 12GB is available for user. But the is no any way, to expand your storage of the phone a it doesn’t bear any microSD Card Slot.
Xiaomi Mi 3 offers Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi & GPS connectivity
options too. Due to the presence of good quality hardware’s, we didn’t
face any problems while making call even in areas where cell signal is
weaker.

It comes with an built-in app for FM radio with the recording
capability and you don’t need to plug in the headphones to run the FM
like other handsets.
The external speaker present at the back of the handset offers loud sound output without any noise pollution and distortion.
The smartphones comes with a 3,500 mAh non removable battery and once
it gets fully charged it will provide you the power up to 11-12 hrs, if
you put the screen brightness of the screen in highest brightness point
with the use of 3G data on. You can make calls of 1-2 hrs of duration
along with  some playback of music at the same time.

Gaming

We were also able to play the heavy games like Temple Run 2, Subway Surfers, Asphalt 8, and many more without any frame drops or freezes.

Tech Tweakerz’s Verdict

We belive this is the best buy in 14K budget and i being the admin am gonna buy this phone because it provides features which we would never get in this price budget!! If we look at the features and the user experience, it is quite harder to believe that Xiaomi Mi 3 just costs Rs.13,999.
Before it arrived in the market, the smartphone featuring all these
specs will come up with a expected price of Rs. 25,000. However, it is
just not the hardware specs that makes this handset so special. It’s
actually the combination of high-end hardware components, software’s,
UI, and the good quality build that places this handset right nest to
the Nexus 5 and other same premium phones. It is a “no compromise”
handset that offers excellent value for your every single penny. The
only compromises it the lack of expandable storage slot and of course 4G
LTE Connectivity.
A large number of people haven’t heard about this brand before. But
it’s the well known for producing quality smartphone manufacturer in the
Chinese market.
This is recently that Xiaomi decided to expand its brand
internationally & launched it’s handset in Malaysia, Philippines,
Singapore. In fact, Xiaomi claims that the whole stock oh the handset were Out of Stock in just 2 Minutes in Singapore.
