IFA is the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. It takes place from September 1 to 6, in Berlin, Germany and this year’s exhibitors put on quite the show. Here are the craziest things we found at this years trade show:
A ginormous laptop
Acer unveiled a 21-inch gaming laptop that weighs a whopping 17 pounds. Yes, you heard that right, 17 pounds! You could actually anchor a boat with that thing. All we have to say is why? The Predator 21X has four speakers and two subwoofers and it needs two power supplies to run! For staying cool it boasts five system fans and eight heatpipes. It’s like the mother of all laptops.
A modular phone you may want
Modular phones may be a great idea, but in our humble opinion, no one has actually mastered the concept yet. For example, if your phone already has a good camera why shoot with a second camera accessory that you have to carry around?
The Hasselblad True Zoom snaps on to the back of the Motorola’s Moto Z phones and delivers something other phone cameras don’t have: optical zoom. In our review, we found that the video quality wasn’t spectacular and the software was annoying, but it has an intelligent design and is easy to use.
More cordless than ever
Another theme at this years IFA was the rage over wireless headphones. The move to cordless continues a trend that’s followed improvements in Bluetooth headphones, but it’s also driven by the fact that Apple just released the iPhone 7 with no headphone jack and introduced their new airpods.
